Hey everyone!

Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted a new recipe.

This Christmas season was super busy for us, and blogging got pushed aside for a few days! My daughter and I spent alot of time with family and loved enjoying each others company.

I had 4 days off work which was fantastic since time off work doesn't come often! I hope you and your family had a very Merry Christmas this year!

Both of our Christmas celebrations this year had an appetizer food theme, so I decided to try out this BLT Dip for Christmas at my Mom's house!

I pulled it out of the oven and everyone devoured it! The flavors were fantastic and it was so cheesy.

And who doesn't love bacon? BLT's are one of my favorite sandwiches so I absolutely loved it in a dip.

This is a great recipe for any party or gathering. We served it with tortilla and pretzel chips, but would also be fantastic with pita chips, crackers or crostinis!

This is definitely a new favorite appetizer in our family!

What are the ingredients in this recipe?

  • Cream Cheese: It's been around since the 1800's and was produced mostly in Philadelphia. You can use store bought like I did or homemade. I love the versatility, and that you can use it in sweet or savory recipes.
  • Provolone cheese: This semi-hard cheese is Italian and is made from cow's milk. It has high amounts of calcium and protein and the sliced cheese is great for melting. It is fairly salty, but you don't need much to take advantage of the great flavor.
  • Fresh tomatoes: They are technically a fruit since they have seeds, but are prepared or served as a vegetable in savory dishes. They contain lycopene, which has great health benefits, vitamin c, potassium and folate. They are served fresh or cooked and can be roasted, canned, dehydrated or frozen for use later.
  • Sour cream: A dairy product made by fermenting regular cream with certain kinds of lactic acid bacteria. The bacterial culture, sours and thickens the cream. It is versatile and adds the richness of cream to any dish, savory or sweet. After opening, it should stay fresh for approximately two weeks. Use store bought or make your own here!
  • Dijon mustard: A traditional mustard of France, named after the town of Dijon in Burgundy, France, which was the center of mustard making in the late Middle Ages. It's base is made from mustard seeds, white wine or wine vinegar, water and salt. It has a sharper and having a more tangy taste than yellow mustard. Use store bought or make your own here!
  • bacon
  • shredded mozzarella cheese
  • mayo
  • Italian seasoning
  • garlic powder
  • black pepper
  • shredded iceberg lettuce

Recipe tips:

  • Make the dip mixture a day ahead of time and pop in the oven right before serving to save time the day of
  • Give the tomato a squeeze to rid it of any excess juice before chopping so that you don’t have unnecessary liquid in your dip
  • Use the brick-style cream cheese and not the whipped kind in the plastic containers
